Wonder Struck is a 600+ page book, but don't be alarmed because at least half of the pages are made up of pictures. The story is told by two different people 50 years apart. Rose and Ben, both about 12 years old, are looking for someone they have lost. The story style is interesting, because Rose's story is told only in pictures and Ben's story is told only in words. This story style occasionally becomes an issue because sometimes you are deep into Ben's story, then the book jumps to Rose's story, and then when you come back to Ben's story you aren't at the same spot in the story that you were when you left. This confusion is almost made moot due to Selznick's amazing drawings. Selznick also wrote another book, called, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, that I personally believe is better, that includes his wonderful pictures and words except that the story is told simultaneously through pictures and words.
